Trip to Washington, D.C.

So, for Riley's fourth birthday we went to spend the weekend with Keith up in Washington, DC, which I haven't seen since I was 4, so I don't remember it at all! We had a great time, but didn't get to see a whole lot, as we had to drag two kids along with us (learn from our mistakes!) anyway, we went to Arlington, which is simply awe-inspiring, and got to see JFK's grave, and Bobby Kennedy's too. We also got to watch the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier, actually I watched it-Kit decided to start screaming right after they asked everyone to be silent, so Keith took her and Riley for a walk! We went downtown for lunch and got to the Washington Monument, which is cool, if you look closely you can see it's made out of two different colors of marble (Keith taught us that they started building it, had to stop for the civil war, went back to the same quarry-but a different spot, so the marble is slightly different!) I thought that was cool! We could see the reflecting pool and Lincoln Memorial from the Washington Monument, but simply did not have the energy to walk down there! Maybe next time!

4 years old, is that possible?!?

April 1st was Riley's fourth birthday, but he managed to stretch the celebration out over a week! He got presents from Oma and Grandpa the Sunday before, then on his birthday he had a party at school with his buddies, then got presents that night from Grandmama and Granddaddy-along with a puppy dog cake! The crowning moment was going to see Daddy that weekend though! He got his presents from us, and had Happy Birthday sang to him at Friday's-but he was not a fan of that! We returned to Newnan where Aunt Shell and the Funk boys spoiled him with even more presents!!
I can hardly believe my baby boy is 4 years old, it has gone so fast!

Riley the bird whisperer

So a few weeks ago we were outside enjoying the beautiful, but temporary, spring weather when I heard what sounded like a rock hitting the house. It was a beautiful cardinal that had run into the window above the garage and stunned himself. His leg look iffy and his beak was cracked, so I ran and got Vicki (my mother in law). She picked the bird up and she and Riley took him back into the woods where Riley not only sat with him, but Held Him on His LAP!!! I missed all this as I was in charge of keeping Lulu away from the birdie, but Vicki got some great pictures of our little animal lover! He was so proud he told all his friends at cubbies and showed them the pictures too. I thought everyone else might get a kick out of it too!!
