Building Kit's New Room

I'm not sure these pictures work very well as 'before' pictures, but they're the best I can find. Bobby and Gale had a new wall built in our house to create a bedroom for Kit. She loves her new room, and has had fun helping me get it set up. To make her room they cut out a new doorway in the dining room wall, closed up the old doorway and then built a wall to turn the old playroom into a hallway and her room. I'll do another post of her room to better show it, but I wanted to get this up for people who aren't able to see it in person.

Riley's Racing

Riley's pack had a race in which you create a car out of a cardboard box or boxes that the scout has to wear and run around a race track. Each lap they have to pit for something, 1st lap they get their 'windshield' (goggles) cleaned, 2nd lap they fuel up by drinking an entire Capri sun, and the 3rd lap they get new tires-their pit crew has to take off their sneakers and socks, put the socks back on inside out and get their shoes back on too. I had the lucky job of being Riley's pit crew for the race-which has a name I'm sure, but I have no idea what it is! We made his car #2 for Matt Ryan and I'm not sure if you can read it, but above that it says The Iceman Cometh, cause Ry really loves the Falcons and Matt Ryan. Anyway, Riley won his heat because the kid who was in front of him got disqualified because his shoes were untied (they had lots of rules about the shoes-20 second penalty if they weren't lace up shoes or if the shoes didn't get untied and tied back up). So he got into the championship race, he was the only Tiger cub, the other guys were all third and fourth graders. And he WON!!!!!!!! The kid beating him decided to take the 20 second penalty and not untie/tie his shoes, and I can tie shoes in less than 20 seconds (something positive has come from tying little kids shoes all day long!!) so Riley got out of the pit at least 3 or 4 seconds ahead of him and won the whole race!!! I don't know who was more excited, me or him! I hope that doesn't make me one of those parents trying to relive the glory days through my child, but it sure was fun to watch him win!!!!! Oh, and he got a big nerf type gun as his prize, that was the only part I wasn't thrilled about.

Atlanta Falcons

Santa brought Riley two ticket to the Atlanta Falcon's game on Jan 3 against the Panthers, and to say he was excited is a major understatement!! He was excited about the trip on Marta, the dome, all the chanting and RISING UP, and everything about the game. We were in a particularly rowdy section and the Falcons kicked butt so it was a lot of fun, Ry got high fives from all the guys sitting around us and he cheered his little heart out! He petered out around the third quarter, but we stayed and cheered until the last 2 minutes. We walked down to the first level so he could see what it looked like from there, and he asked if Santa could bring him tickets for that section for next year!?!! I'm not sure this Santa will be doing that, but we had a great time together at this game. The picture of the two guys is the view I had if I stayed sitting down, so needless to say I stood for most of the game just so I could see the game.
