Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in Calhoun with my parents and brother and sister in law, and had a great time! My brother was kind enough to replace the brake pads and rotors on my car and Riley had the best time being Uncle Dan's helper, Dan said he was a good little helper too! My mom also got Rock Band ~the Beatles version for my Dad and we went ahead and opened it up for him! We had a great time rocking out, even if we were pretty rough on some of the songs, Kit and Riley were pretty excited about it too. We let them bang on the drums and by the time we left Riley was good enough to play an entire song by himself! Of course Dan and I pretty much hogged the game the entire time, poor Summer and my parents barely got a chance to play.
The only downer of the entire weekend was Tech losing to Georgia, so much for the best team winning...

Shawn Mullins

The parents of one of the little girls in my class are friends with Shawn Mullins and had invited us to come see him perform and meet him, well I finally got the chance last friday night. I went with a friend from work, Jessica, and we had a great time. He put on a great show, just him-no band, he has a lot of great songs. I thought it was pretty cool that we got to meet him and talk with him, of course I just kept getting introduced as Morgan's teacher, so we ended up talking about kids! I would highly recommend his shows, even though the only song I knew was Lullaby-I really liked his other stuff!

Halloween

Our Halloween was rainy and cold this year, but we had a great time at Jennifer and Hank's costume party, the kids were ready to go at about 8 am! Riley was Venom (the black spiderman from spiderman 3) and Kit was a cute little witch! The adults were supposed to dress up too and I didn't want to be a party pooper, so I went as Tim Tebow's girlfriend (He is the quarterback for the Gators) because everyone else is Georgia fans. We only went to 3 or 4 houses because of the rain, but the kids got a load of candy because no one else was out trick or treating either. Their favorite house was Jenn and Hank's, they went out on the porch and rang the bell to trick or treat and Hank screamed as he opened the door and scared them silly! They loved it! Riley didn't want to take a bath because he was afraid we might miss some "customers" and they wouldn't get any candy!

Face painting from Jaemor farms, Riley's school had a maze craze day there to raise money.
Traditional Halloween pajamas!

Sharp teeth, as Kit calls them!
The picture is definitely cuter without me in it!!
Venom and the little witch
Miley as venom!
The man behind the mask!
Laughing after being scared by Hank
Proud of the candy from Hank I guess!
Faithful trick or treaters!

Riley can read!!!!!!!

At the end of August Riley brought home a reader that he had been working on at school, and shocked me by reading the first page all by himself!! I thought that was pretty amazing for only 3 weeks of kindergarten! That first reader only used four or five different words in a few sentences, but two months later he has progressed to reader 6, and he knows between 25 and 30 different sight words. I know I'm showing off my son, but for all of our friends and family that don't get to see him very often, I thought you would enjoy this video of him reading from reader 6.
I had to chop off the end of the video because I answered a phone call (I know, bad mommy!) but it's almost a minute of him reading-so you'll get the idea!
