Lula Railroad Days Parade

Today was the parade for Lula Railroad Days, I'm not really certain what the deal is with railroad days, but everyone else here loves it, so we'll join in the fun! It was Riley's first time ever being in a parade, and he has been talking about it for the last two weeks. He kept telling me how he was going to throw the crayons AT people, while I kept trying to explain he had to throw the crayons TO the people! It was yucky and cloudy and even rained on and off, but nothing deterred him from riding on the float with his friends.
We stood (never had a chance to sit!) with Miley, Bobby, Gale, Hannah-and assorted family and friends of the Miller clan! Kit had to compete with Hannah and her friends to get some candy, but she was victorious, despite her sincere lack of effort! In fact, I am sitting here sifting through the candy now to see if there is anything worth hiding from the kids, but I can't find much besides tootsie rolls and dubble bubble gum-yuck!
Kit was in heaven just getting to be near baby Miley, who was also a good sport between the rain, Kit pulling on her, and all the people that wanted to hold her! Riley's little face just lit up when he saw all of us waving to him, but his first question when I picked him up after the parade was, why did Mr. Bobby not wave to him? Apparently the other 5 people waving to him just weren't that exciting!!
Riley spent the rest of the day describing how he threw the crayons so hard that they broke when the hit the ground, and naming all his friends that he waved to! OH, and the girl waving the flags in the marching band is our babysitter, the beloved Miss Sydney-whom both Riley and Kit absolutely adore! Even with all the icky weather we still had a great time and can officially say that we have participated in Railroad Days!!Lollipop victory!!The teacher in the middle and the one at the back of the trailer(both sitting to the right of Riley) are Ms. Leila and Ms. Kirsten-they are Riley's teachers and he just loves them!!

Quick Update

OK, I started this post on the 11th, but I actually finished it and posted it on Friday, May 29th-just wanted to explain why the dates were so off!!

We are doing pretty well up here in Lula, getting into the groove of summer vacation, yesterday was my last day of work , yay!!
Kit: is 99.9% potty trained-thank goodness! She has only had one accident in the last two/three weeks, which was actually my fault. I painted her toenails and fingernails and told her not to move so she wouldn't mess it up. Riley came running in a few minutes later to tell me Kit had peed all over the chair and rug, and when I asked her what happened she said 'you said at me not to move!' Of course-the one time she actually listened to me!
Her teacher told me she loves to write her own name-not in the correct order, but she will fill a paper up with k's i's and t's.
Riley hit a double in his last t ball game, and I was going to correct them because they had him batting lefty. I sat right back down after he knocked the ball out to the outfield though!
Riley's teacher and I had our spring conference and she pretty much sang his praises this time! If you didn't know-Riley had a really hard time the first half of the school year, which was totally understandable but still had me worried. Ms. Leila said he is doing much better following directions, he doesn't hit his friends anymore, and is just the sweetest little boy (good thing she doesn't see him at home!)
Riley also managed to break bone #3 over Memorial Day weekend. He tripped and went head over heels on saturday and got pretty scraped up and said his wrist was sore, it was still sore sunday, so I wrapped it for him. Then monday morning he fell on the same wrist again and started screaming, I took him to quick care-hoping they could wrap it and keep it stable. The doctor wanted to do x rays just in case, and sure enough, he came back and told me Riley has a buckle fracture in his wrist. So we are off to the ortho surgeon today to find out if Riley will have to wear a cast for the summer. I haven't broken that news to him yet-that we might have to put swimming on hold if he does have to wear a cast, he is still mad at me for throwing his crocs away-he was wearing them both times he fell, so I told him they were going straight into the trash because I didn't want him falling again. I know he'll still fall, he is as clutzy as his mother, but I swear the crocs made it worse!
2009 and 2006, at least his arm is bigger than the splint now!!
I am glad to be done with work until the end of July, but I am also working up to a crazy summer. I am taking two classes and doing a field experience, so I might be ready to just go back to teaching preschool by August! I have kept my 4.0, which I have to celebrate because I don't think it will last through summer semester!

So, I know I'm a mean mom putting this on here, but it is just too funny! I also know that it is sideways, I don't know why I filmed it like that-I'm just a goof I guess.
