Pretty in Pink

Getting ready with Ms. Dawn (Kit's teacher)

Getting bashful just in time for casual wear!

Ok, so I never thought I would do it, but I actually put Kit in a pageant back in May. My only defense is that the pageant was for the Susan G. Komen foundation-so we were raising money to fund research on breast cancer. Clearly we are not pageant people though, after several times practicing walking out on the stage she flat out refused to go by herself during the pageant. So I had to walk out there with her, which I was NOT planning on and had NOT dressed for! She did a little better the second time, for formal wear. But I don't think either of us really enjoyed it, and I will admit that I was disappointed that she was third runner up (there were only 5 girls in her age group!) and she didn't win any of the optionals-prettiest hair, prettiest eyes, prettiest smile, most photogenic-I think. I was being realistic, I didn't expect her to win the pageant, I had hoped she might win one of the optionals though.
Anyway, once was enough for us because I don't deal with disappointment very well! I suppose if she wants to do another one when she gets older then that is her choice. But I didn't like having to keep a fake smile on while all the other little girls won!

Some Gave All 5K

Riley and I ran in the 1 mile race at the Some Gave All event, in memory of Maj. Kevin Jenrette back in the beginning of May. Sadly, I struggled to run a mile-we both had to walk a few times, and Hannah helped me push both Riley and Kit in the jogging stroller together for about 100 yards too! Riley was a sport though and he finished the race-he even beat me and Hannah! My defense is that I had to push 40 pounds of Kit in the jogging stroller! As soon as Riley saw the finish line it was over though, he sprinted past the group in front of us and he was gone! I was absolutely amazed and so proud of him-he ran one mile in 8 and a half minutes!
It was a great event, the National Guard brought a blackhawk and hummer and the kids had a great time climbing in them and pushing all the buttons.

My kids rock my world!

I have debated posting this-only because Kit doesn't have a shirt on...but she's only 3, and the only people who look at this blog are friends and family so odds are you have already seen her with her shirt off anyway! I love how crazy and carefree my kids are (not sure where they get that...)as you can see in this video. You can also tell when Riley suddenly realizes that I'm videotaping them, he turns up the crazy! I hope it makes you laugh as much as it makes me laugh!!

Country Kiddos

This picture is from Miley's birthday party back in the beginning of May, but I absolutely LOVE it! From left to right it is Selah, Genesis, Riley, Philip, Kit, Carly, and Miley. They are trying to get Sunny's attention-that's Becca's baby horse-you can see her between Genesis and Riley in the background. Sunny was too interested in eating to come visit, but she still had a crowd!

Field Trip with Riley

Riley's class went on a field trip to the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve back in April (yes-I know it's been a while since I posted anything!) and I surprised him by showing up, and the look on his face was priceless. He also poked all his friends and pointed towards me, and I was so glad I could be there and see that look. We walked around with his class and had lunch, then they did a quick animal show-and I actually volunteered to carry a snake around so the kids could all see and touch it. I am terrified of snakes, but it was neat to carry it and pet it. I think it got overwhelmed with all the kids because it wedged it's head under my watchband.
After the zoo we went to Woody's to get Ry's hair cut and of course had to stop at the candy store (The Fudge Factory). It was a great day with my little guy, whom I don't get much time with. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and a nice mommy and Riley day!
