Braves Home Opener

Aunt Summer and Uncle Dan took Riley(and Summer's dad!) to the Braves home opener 2 weeks ago for his birthday present. He had a great time and has continued to tell EVERYONE we see about it, these are some great pictures that Summer sent us from their adventure! I say adventure because this was the night of hailstorms and tornadoes throughout North Georgia!

Meeting Uncle Dan at Georgia Tech, and some random mechanical thingy on Tech campus.

Walking to the Braves game through some scary neighborhood
The view from their seats...

My brother being a dork, nothing new...

Aunt Summer and Uncle Dan's child-Tuff! Ry and Tuff watched Short Circuit together.

D'backs first t-ball game!

Riley had his first t-ball game on Saturday, his team is the Diamondbacks, but he'll be the first to correct you and say it's the D-backs! They were very cute out there, totally clueless, but cute! Miss Priss lasted about 10 minutes and then I took her in to the kids care in the Y.

D-backs waiting to bat, Riley is next in the lineup!
1 swing 1 hit!! Of course he had to watch where the ball ended up, like all the kids did when they were at bat!
Sitting on 2nd...
Running for home base...
and he scores!!! Well, ok all the kids score, they bat all the way through the roster and the last batter just runs all the bases after he hits. It was great to see Riley so proud of himself though!
This is the "uncle dan" pose. Dan and I played little league and since our dad was our coach, we often got stuck in the outfield (where no one hit the ball!) this is how dan would stand out there, with his legs crossed, probably daydreaming! Riley's coach did switch everyone up though, and Ry got to play 3rd base too, but still didn't pay attention and he almost took a ball straight to the head!!

Easter

We had a great Easter this year, with beautiful weather Saturday and Sunday that was just perfect for hunting Easter eggs! The kids got to do the church Easter egg hunt on Saturday with their cousins Dave, Zach, and Jacob; then on Sunday with baby Miley!
We got to go to church with the whole Miller/Parker/Hamby clan for the first time in months, which was great. We also had lunch at Bobby and Gale's, and then the kids got to play outside all afternoon. Matt, Hannah and Hank took turns driving them to see the horses on the golf cart and the gator, which was almost as exciting as seeing Miley. Kit is still talking about how she made Miley laugh! I hope everyone else had a wonderful Easter celebrating Jesus' resurrection.

Riley is 5 years old today!

I guess every year I am going to be overwhelmed by his birthday, but I really can't believe my baby is five!! We went and signed him up for Kindergarten at Lula Elementary School, and I was probably more nervous than he was. He went right off with the teacher for his evaluation and checked out the classrooms without the slightest concern about where I was. Since I had to go get him to register for kindergarten, I got to join his class for cupcakes and singing happy birthday to Riley. Of course, he went ahead and took another cupcake that the kindergarten teacher gave him when she found out it was his birthday! He got to come back to school with me and he made quite an impression. One of my little girls kept telling me that she loved Riley and another one trailed around behind him all afternoon.
We had his Transformer birthday party on Sunday and it went well. We had 5 kids show up, which was plenty for me, especially since we had to do the party indoors. Though I did make them put their coats on to do the pinata out on the patio, I didn't think any of my light fixtures could withstand that activity! I was grateful to meet some parents from his class too.
Riley made a point of telling everyone that it was his birthday today, maybe he was expecting more cupcakes...
