The result of my children getting a hold of the camera!!
Life has been kind of bumpy lately, since Riley had his tonsils out we have been knocked out with one illness or another. I was just beginning to get over an unbelievable sore throat when apparently our 'injury phase' began! Kit has a gash on her head, right at her hairline, from riding a bike backwards-while leaning backwards-and smacking into another set of handlebars. They brought her in with blood running down the side of her face-not exactly the way you want to see your baby. We got her cleaned up as much as we could, the bleeding stopped pretty quickly and she calmed down easily, but it was impossible to see the wound because of her hair. She hasn't complained about it since it happened on Friday thank goodness!
On the way home from work I managed to be car #3 in a three car pile-up. Ok, it wasn't really a pile-up, I just slammed into the back of the car in front of me after he slammed into the guy in front of him. The roads were soaking wet, so even though I was standing on the brake pedal with two feet, we skidded for a good twenty feet before we hit the car. We were both fine, just shaken, I held it together long enough to call the cops and talk to the driver in front of me, but once I got in touch with Gale to ask if someone could pick up Riley -I just lost it! I was even worse when Jenn showed up to follow us home! The only damage to my car was the hood getting bent up a little (the guy who is fixing it for me said I was probably only going 5-10 miles an hour when I hit the guy-based on the damage) and I didn't want to pay for a wrecker if I didn't need one.
I still managed to go out and have fun with friends for Carrie-Anne's birthday too!
The next morning I discover that Riley has bruise on his forehead from tripping over a backpack and falling onto a table at school! He just can't win, he had a bloody nose a few weeks ago from accidentally getting kicked in the nose! He and the nurse must be good buddies by now!!
I had been hoping that March would be a better month that February, it didn't quite work out that way, but I firmly believe it's going to get better from here on out!!
On a positive note, Riley is reading better every day, in order to 'pass' kindergarten at his school the kids have to finish reader #30 by the end of the year, and he is already on reader#32! He got popcorn, soda, and a dvd for completing reader 30. I am so incredibly proud of him!
Other than her bike riding fiasco, Kit is doing well too. She points out letters all the time now and spent the afternoon writing letters on her magnadoodle, mostly K, I, T, R, and E. Apparently Riley and I only need to be identified by a single letter! I'm just excited that she is doing it, a few months ago if I asked her about a letter she could tell me who's name started with it, but she couldn't (or wouldn't) say the actual letter. Maybe she won't flunk pre-K!! She oscillates between girly and tomboy, she loves to wear dresses, but on Friday she insisted that she could only wear dresses and tights to church, so I just said ok-we're going to church. Needless to say, she was a little ticked when she realized we got off the exit for school not church! She talks about all her best friends in her class every day, it's someone different every day too! She tries to 'mommy' some of the littler guys, and as far as I know there is only one little girl that she has problems with. She was telling me about trying to apologize to the other little girl, Kit was mad that the other little girl kept saying no sorry when Kit said she was sorry, so Kit just started kicking her-I guess she thought that might get the point across!
I've just started another class, I should be working on homework instead of doing this, oh well! School is going well, I think I am about halfway through. Which sounds good until I found out everyone I started with will be finishing their classes this semester and student teaching in the fall!
